What's Your New Year's Resolution?

I have so many goal's for 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Be happy and content in all situations.

"Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not think you are superior". (Rom 12:14-16)

2. Be a better wife and mother
I often feel like I don't live up to my duty as a wife and mother. There have been so many trials in the last year that have made me feel as if I'm not living up to what a "good christian wife and mother should be like"

3. of course I wanna loose 20 pounds haha
I lost a bunch of weight but after a big surgery I have gained about 10 of it back . :(

4. Finish one project at a time instead of starting a bunch and not finishing them.
the first one to finish is Madisons quilt and 2 shirts for my son

5. Finish my teacher's aid course

6. Run 5 km

7. when I look back at my list the only thing that really matters is the 1st one. In order to be successful at all of this i need to be happy and content. :)

May God Bless you in the year ahead in whatever your situation is He is always with you and He will guide you and take care of you
peace and love from my house to yours

I won a giveaway and I made coasters

Im so excited to finally win a giveaway . I visit many craft blogs looking for simple ideas for sewing and many times they offer a giveaway. I follow a blog called Poppy Seed Fabrics ( go over and visit she has her own shop) anyways last week she posted a tutorial on how to make coasters you can find it here , right away I knew I would enjoy doing this project. It uses 5 inch squares ( same size as many charm packs) and I had a charm pack hanging around dying to be used. We were kindly invited for dinner at a friend of my brothers Saturday so friday night I gave it a go and made the host some coasters. I love them!!!!!!! A great host gift especially if you know they appreciate homemade things. So here is how mine turned out.

Shortly after this tutorial was posted a giveaway was posted. Lemon Tree Creation was actually the one who had the giveaway but it was sponsored by Poppy Seed Fabrics. Wanna see what I won........

One fat quarter of each pattern Im SEW excited can't wait to get it . Thanks to both Blogs for the giveaway :)

A Blanket and Two Bags.

Wow it felt SOOOOO good to do some sewing yesterday. I spent he whole afternoon while my 2 year old napped doing what I love best. Last week I hit some great sales in the States which motivated me even more to get my butt at it again. I have a dear friend who had a baby back in August and I have yet to meet this precious babe. It was such a nice surprise when she sent me a message that they were coming for a visit. I had planned on making a quilt but since they are already coming tomorrow I settled with a simple blanket. I really like it though. The material I think is beautiful and I was even able to use my new labels. Yay!!!!

The Second project I did was a library book bag for my sweetie pie Niece Morgan. She has been wanting one and waiting so patiently for it. She picked the fabric and I was not at all surprised as she is a die hard princess,Tinkerbell fan. I cant wait to give it to her.

The next is a laundry bag for Brandon. I posted the one I made for Dylan in a previous post and still have yet to make the other 2 kids there bag. Brandon loved it he wanted to carry it around with him. He is like that with anything new though. Buy him new shoes and he wont let you take them off. I hope to do some more sewing today, mainly housekeeping. I have a huge list of half made projects. i almost feel like I should finish a few of them before working on Madison's quilt.

Thank you everyone for your comments and reading my blog. I truly love sharing my crafts with you.

Turtle, Turtle

Meet Turtle....
 Meet his owner...

Eating a very Healthy Breakfast

Dylan has been asking me for sometime now to make him a stuffed wolf. Everyday actually for probably a month. I looked and thought it would be to hard. So I let him pick out of my one yard wonders book between a turtle, dinosaur and rocket ship. The turtle was an easy pattern im sure, but for me not so much. In real life he looks like he's been made by a 5 year old. But he is still cute. Dylan is over joyed and loves him to bits.

Finally did a bit of sewing..... Laundry Bag

So I have a smart solution. Do you ever have it where you feel like you can never find socks for your kids. With 4 kids Im always so annoyed matching socks. So instead of a Laundry basket for the whole family I decided to make the kids each there own. Then when its full i will do a Load of just one kids clothes . I think it would be easier for folding and putting away to . :) Anyways I have only finished 1 but it didn't take long so I hope to get the others done later today. I also plan on making the strap shorter for the other kids as I had problems trying to hang it without it touching the ground. Anyways he has it hanging on a coat hanger for now but im sure that wont last. So here a a few pictures of the laundry bag......

A Simple Dress

This dress was so easy to make. I actually found the material in the remnant section at Joann's . The elastic top part was already done for me all I have to do was add straps ( which I used already cut bias tape) and hem the bottom of the dress. Also had to sew and serge the back. It took me 15 minutes and cost me less the 5 dollars :) YAY!

Birthday Gifts For My Favorite Little People

I have truly been blessed with an awesome group of nieces and nephews they make me so happy every time I get to see them. There are 11 in total ranging from 1 month to 10 years old. So this year for all the school aged kids i thought i would do something a little bit different as birthday gifts instead of the typical toy . I decided to make them all library book bags for school or really whatever they want it for. So here is the latest one that I made for Seth who turned 5 ....

Here is another one that I  made I haven't taken pictures of them all , I made 3 others.

My children

So I have been very blessed with 4 awesome children. I was working on Saturday in 33 celsius weather and my kids wanted to do a lemonade stand. I always say no because we live on a busy street and it scares me especially with my little guy. So hubby let them while Brandon was napping. He just did some puttering around work in the front yard. The kids took turns jumping in the pool to cool down while one maned the stand. Pretty cute. I was happy Aaron snapped a couple picture . They ended up making 6 dollars I think. Not bad for a 6 and 8 year old.
